We provide latex, nitrile and plastic gloves but don't require them unless really needed.  Obviously leather gloves for glass tubing work and heat mitts are also available.  We do find our bio students want to wear gloves all the time as many do in bio lab.

Subject: [DCHAS-L] Glove use in academic teaching labs

I would like to get some feedback from the list about the use of gloves in academic teaching labs.  Do you require students to wear gloves all of the time (much like splash goggles), or only in situations where the likelihood of skin exposure to a particular chemical is significant.  Or, other?  And, what kind(s) of disposable glove(s) are made available to students?

Thanks.

Dave
