I agree with Barbara. Reviews are mos t helpful to congratulate good behavior and coach employees for improvement. I’ve been a supervisor for 30 years and never have used a review for punishment. (Discipline is a completely different track.)

Here’s the E HS criteria what I use for reviews of my 50 employees:

Environmental Health and Safety— ;Consistently follows best environmental health and saf ety practices.

Behaviors: Understands environmental health and safety responsibilities by reviewing university manuals and information; takes appropriate EHS training; assesses risks and prevent accidents; utilize appropriate safety procedures, personal protective equip ment and other safety controls; take corrective action to reduce risks that you become aware of; promptly report accidents, injuries and spills.

I’ve been trying to get Yale to adopt this university-wide, but so far only a few labs and units are includ ing EHS as a review criteria.

Hope this helps,

Pete

Would like to hear how some of you handle employee reveiws in regards to safety. I know this i s a touchy subject because you don’t want to “punish” someone which in turn can result in under-reporting.

We strive to partner with our clients, to make their problem our problem, and the staff here at PSI will continually do so on your behalf.< font color=blue>
