Hi Barbara, I used to think that mouth pipetting was no longer an issue until I started asking about it. In a past life, I trained all new researchers for a large Pfarmaceutical research facility. During lab safety training sessions I as ked if anyone had been trained in mouth pipetting when we got to that part- I was regularly shocked to find that researchers from reputable universiti es indicated that they were still learning to mouth pipette..... The last t ime I did this training was less than 5 years ago. Based on the information provided by researchers I decided not to remove th e 'don't mouth pipette' item from our short list of "Do not..." rules. She has never seen it done, and couldn't imagine anyone who would EVER think of doing it. I guess I could ask the same about the " No eating or drinking" rule. Any thoughts?
