I couldn’t agree more with Sammye.=A0 I would add that the local health department would also be interested in the place.

I would think
that the
EPA would be very interested in this. Does anyone know if they are
aware
of the group and their mercury use?
Sammye
I received
the email below, which I originally thought was a spam message. Looking
at it closer, I now see it is a legitimate complaint. The
organization’s info about
their use of mercury is at:
http://www.dhyanalinga.org/theerthakund_qa.htm
Has
anyone else heard of this practice? They are apparently located in
McMinnville Regards, Erik From: vln**At_Symbol_Here**vsnl.net [mailto:vln**At_Symbol_Here**vsnl.net]
Dear
sir, I am
giving below a
mail sent to Chairman of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board,T
Nadu,India which is
self explanatory. Founder
of this
unit is a leading personality, who gives talk on environment and society
at
leading forums as per their website(Spoke in four
panels at
the 2007 World Economic Forum, addressing issues ranging from diplomacy
to
economic development, education and the environment. In 2006, he
addressed the
World Economic Forum, the T=E4llberg Forum in Sweden, and the
Australian Leadership Retreat. He has also served as a delegate to the
United
Nations Millennium Peace Summit and the World Peace Congress. He is the
only
speaker to have been invited to the World Economic Forum three years in
a
row.Sadhguru has had interviews with the BBC, Bloomberg, CNBC, CNNfn,
and
Newsweek International. He was a delegate to the United Nations
Millennium World
Peace Summit and a participant at the World Economic Forum in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
Project
Green Hands
and initiative to increase the green cover of Tamil Nadu State by 33%
in the next
15-25 years is spearheaded by Sadguru
Jaggi Vasudev. The
project entered the Guinness Book of world records for planting maximum
number
of tree saplings on a single day. In January 2007, he participated in
four
panels at the World Economic Forum and spoke on issues ranging from
diplomacy
and economic development, to education and the environment).Their name
has come
in Guiness Book of World Record for planting maximum number of tree
saplings on
a single day. They have
recently opened
a centre in USA<
font
size=2 color=red face=Arial> and he has promised to have similar Mercury pond there also
( refer
their website: www.ishafoundation.org/IIIS-US and www.atlantadunia.com/dunia/News/N403.htm
). In
public and
forums these people speak of society and environment, whereas what they
do in
reality is more danger to society and environment by having Mercury pond
for
spiritual receptivity, which are unscientific and barbaric in nature. That
too
done by a leading personality. There may be many others doing such
things,which
are unnoticed. As an
organisation
for Mercury Free Environment, I would request you to take up with World
Econimic Forum/goverment/Health departments for taking necessary
action.You
can also publish in your journal/wesite so that people are awrae of
problem
assocaited with Mercury. Please
confirm
receipt of this mail and looking forward to receiving your favourable
reply. Should
you need any
further information, please let me know. Thanking
you, V.L.Natarajan, BMP No :

Nadu
Pollution Control Board, 100,
Anna
salai, Chennai
: 600032,India. Dear
sir, Sub
: Mercury Hazard. I am
writing this
in the larger interest of the people. Isha
Foundation in
Velliangiri Hills,Coimbatore has a pond at their ashram
"Theerthkund"in which 700 Kg Mercury Idol is immersed in water
for better
spiritual receptivity and spiritual enhancement.Refer their website : www.dhyanalinga.org/theerthakund.htm
and www.dhyanalinga.org/theerthakund_qa.htm
,wherein they give relevance of Mercury idol and how it helps
them to
get spiritual receptivity.Even their main idol Dhyanalinga has mercury
in it. Mercury
in water
can easily react with bacteria and form Methyl Mercury and is most
dangerous to human and environment.Mercury in any form is dangerous and
is
highly polluting to environment. In
March,2001 your
organisation Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board did take action by
closing down
Ponds India Ltd, Kodaikanal,T Nadu, manufacturer of
Thermometer for
polluting the environment and health problem to workers and
neighbourhood due
to Mercury hazard. In fact TNPCB ordered the company to send back
the
inventory of mercury and broken glass pieces to the recycler in USA for
safe
disposal.I believe still litigation process is going on for compensation
for
affected people. Having
known the
consequences of Mercury hazard, I write this letter to you to take
necessary action against Isha Foundation, Coimbatore If you
need
detailed information on Mercury poisoning or any further information,
please
let me know. I
request you to
confirm receipt of this letter. Thanking
you, Yours
faithfully, V.L.Natarajan, BMP No :
