Colleagues, I have been approached by several of our employees wanting to receive your collective wisdom or consensus on the proper use of radiation badges in a multi-project research facility. We have several radiation sources within our facility. We issue both finger ring and belt badges to monitor cumulative monthly exposures. Those who either work in these labs or work in areas where they are potentially exposed are in our program. The question comes as to when they should wear these badges: [1] Just in the labs where sources are present [2] Areas outside where our source models indicate the possibility of exposure is present [3] Anytime when they are within the over facility Your insights and citations are always appreciated.
