Typical Functions Conduct laboratory audits according to University protocol. Manage the development of the laboratory safety program, including development of protocols appropriate to specific UVM labs and provide training and consulting support to departments. Help develop a laboratory safety program which meets the expectations of laboratory occupants. Consult with laboratory supervisors and department chairs to assist departments in achieving regulatory compliance. Participate in Environmental Safety Facility (ESF) Teamwork Development activities, including staff meetings and policy development and provide feedback to ESF managers about workplace climate issues. Participate in Risk Management strategic planning activities, including RM staff meetings, ongoing RM mission development and goal setting. May operate University vehicle. Minimum Qualifications or equivalent combination of education & experience Bachelor's degree in related science and three years experience in a scientific laboratory or medical research setting or related experience required. Effective communication skills required. Valid Vermont driver's license or ability to obtain, and driver's check required. Ability to provide HAZMAT emergency response services and move frequently around campus required. Commitment to diversity and inclusion required.
