Gary, It would trigger both a PRCS permit and a Hot work permit at our plant. Gas, arc, tig, brazing, soldering...wouldn't make any difference. I'd advise against using acetylene in an unventilated CS owing to the broad explosive concentration range. In your organization, does welding in a confined space result in classifying that space as a Permit Required or Non-Permit required CS? We presently classify the space as PRCS if welding is being done. Thanks, Gary M. Kehoe, CIH Senior Industrial Hygienist Midwest Generation EMG 773-650-5732 312-925-1813 (C) 312-788-5533 (F)
