The Reactives Management workshop was very well received in Boston. I am now looking for up to 8 locations to present it at in the next 12 months. It will be presented in New Orleans in April and Philadelphia in August. If you are interested in hosting it, please contact me. Arrangements are simple. The cost is $50 per person with 25 minimum and 30 maximum per day. The presentation must be open to participants who are not directly affiliated with your facility (ie – open to the community). You will need to provide the location and A/V equipment. I will provide everything else. Here is the current Agenda: CHEMICAL REACTIVITY HAZARDS Laboratory Scale Recognition & Control AGENDA PURPOSE: Chemical reactivity hazards contribute to a significant number of incidents in laboratories and pilot plants. This workshop will provide participants with the knowledge and skill to screen processes for potential hazards, recognize when reactive hazards are present, and implement appropriate controls to reduce the risk of an incident associated with the hazards. Workshop attendees will review case studies of actual incidents and do screening examples in order to understand the screening and recognition process. Group discussions of control methods will allow participants to share their experiences and to evaluate methods for controlling reactivity risks. Some knowledge of basic chemistry will be beneficial.
