Please excuse the cross postings Colleagues, I am assisting CCEHSA with sponsoring an event on EMS's. I think that it is something we should at the very least be knowledgeable about. I encourage attendance because it will be fairly inexpensive and I believe it will be a great workshop. The cost subsidized by CCEHSA and will be under $100.00. (Refreshments and Lunch to be provided) Presented by WSP Environmental Strategies and Hosted by CCEHSA The world of higher education is rapidly changing and there is a unique, dynamic regulatory burden impacting this sector. In response to this, many forward-thinking colleges and universities are advancing environmental management systems to ensure legal compliance and a safe, sustainable campus environment. To share experiences and knowledge in this arena, we are hosting this workshop and networking event with higher education representatives to learn about Environmental Management Systems, how they can drive improvement in environmental health and safety by integrating energy conservation, waste diversion, and natural resource stewardship elements with traditional programs. WSP Environmental Strategies will be facilitating this interactive dialogue which will define environmental management systems, discuss various methods for developing and implementing an EMS and examine how an EMS can optimize existing environmental, health and safety programs. Included in this dialogue will be: =A7 Ideas on engaging non-EHS staff, administrators and faculty through an EMS =A7 Specific case studies to demonstrate EMS successes & challenges in higher education =A7 Learning exercises where we will examine & discuss your biggest challenges and propose practical solutions WSP professionals have been designing, implementing and upgrading environmental management systems for institutions of higher learning since 1992. With broad experience both in Europe and the U.S., they have guided several universities in the development of world-class EMS and SMS, and integrated these programs with their existing EHS compliance efforts.
