The Laboratory Safety Institute did a salary survey for CHO a few years ago.
The CHO's said they spent anywhere from 5% to 100% of their time. On
average they spent 25% of their time on their CHO duties.

They were paid $10K to $15K for their work as CHO. That's an annualized $40
to $60K per year. ... Jim

Neal -

This comes up at every CHO workshop. It is RARE that anyone gets extra
salary for CHO responsibilities because it is usually considered part of
other duties. We occasionally see someone who's sole job is CHO, but that
is also rare. The few instances where there is extra pay for CHO duties, it
appears to be about a 10% bump.

Can any of you out there offer a salary increment for ancillary duty as a
CHO? The situation is a chemistry faculty member who is assigned CHO
duties. He wants to know what a typical salary increment is.

Thanks
