Day, From Field to Table

Seeking a permanent, full-time Safety and Occupational Health Manager  
with responsibilities for safety management, occupational health  
management, industrial hygiene, and environmental management.

Major Duties:
The incumbent serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Manager  
for the Midwest Area and is responsible for performing the following:

•	Plans, organizes, and administers a comprehensive safety,  
occupational health, industrial hygiene, and environmental management  
program.
•	Serves as the Area's technical advisor in the interpretation of  
pertinent legislation, regulations, and standards related to safety,  
occupational health, industrial hygiene, and environmental management  
programs.
•	Coordinates and provides technical oversight to ensure the  
implementation of the ARS Safety, Health, and Environmental  
Management Program for all employees, cooperators, and visitors.
•	Recommends goals, objectives, and resource requirements for  
reducing or eliminating accidents, injuries, illnesses, and damage to  
the environment.
•	Participates with managers/supervisors in identifying and arranging  
for appropriate safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and  
environmental education/training programs and orientation of new  
employees; and conducts training as time and priorities permit.
•	Conducts and oversees the performance of periodic inspections,  
including environmental audits of all workplaces and follows-up to  
ensure that abatement programs are put in place on an annual basis or  
as resources permit.



Qualifications:
Your education and experience will be evaluated against all  
qualification requirements (basic and any additional requirements)  
listed below.
Basic Requirements:
GS-11:  1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade  
level OR a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of  
progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
GS-12:  1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11  
grade level.

credit hours, dates completed, and grades received.  If the requested
