I'm sure there's something better out there, but Kerosene is popular for metallic lithium, sodium, potassium... because it doesn't absorb water, isn't extremely flammable and is oily enough to coat the chunks and prevent contact with water vapor in the air. Yet, it can be cleaned off fairly easily when you want to use the metal.
