Two Open Positions!

 

University Industrial Hygienist

Department of Environment, Health & Safety

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill

 

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is in the midst of
tremendous growth through new construction, and renovation of campus
facilities. The University is seeking two talented industrial hygienists
to support project design review, health and safety training, hazardous
material assessments and monitoring of existing and future projects. The
scope of work will include tracking new construction and compliance
assurance during asbestos and lead abatement activity. For large capital
projects, the incumbent will actively participate in the design/build
process from preplanning to final acceptance of the completed buildings.
Further, the IH will be responsible for the evaluation and control of
health hazards for Campus Facilities maintenance and support services
personnel. 

 

Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology,
engineering, industrial hygiene/environmental science or related
discipline and at least 1 year of experience performing industrial
hygiene inspections. The preferred qualifications include 3 or more
years of IH experience (including construction activities) with a
Masters Degree in Industrial Hygiene (Occupational Health) or related
discipline and a working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA and Building Code
requirements. Previous experience with asbestos and lead abatement and
accreditation as an air monitor in North Carolina are highly desirable.
Good organizational, written, verbal and computer skills are essential.
Salary Range: $36,206-55,795
