As a retired teacher, I find this thread very interesting and very much on target. A number of years ago I was impressed by a presentation by Rubin Battino in NYC. One of his major points was to impress us as teachers an students in general is the difference between Magic and Science. . . .A magician uses science to "fool" the audience and keep the "tricks" secret. A science teacher may do "magic tricks" to illuminate the science that underlies them.
