The MSDS is only as good as the people who write it and the amount of effort they are permitted to put into it. There are many informative MSDS out there, but there are also many very poor ones. I suggest approaching an MSDS as you would any secondary (or tertiary) source of information - with a healthy amount of skepticism. Determine how valid it is for your purposes on the basis of: -- your knowledge of this and similar materials obtained from other sources -- your previous experience with other MSDS obtained from the same source -- how recently it was revised (in the US, you can easily receive an old version that is several revisions out of date) If you always approach an MSDS expecting it to be a thoroughly informative in all its sections, your a bound to be disappointed. I am no expert chemist but consider myslef a real good safety generalist degreed in occupational safety and health from RIT and going for my masters. I have always expected an MSDS to be a thorough document since it is recommended by so many regulatory agencies and drilled in lecture after lecture, training session after training session that it where to go for information about a specific product and its required on the jobsite. I appreciate your reinforcing me that the MSDS works. I began to concern myself with chemical misrepresentation within the MSDS especially from a company as thorough as Dow This network is really a good thing and it has helped me to sift through many an issue. There are so many brillant minds out there and I appreciate everyone opinion here. Thanks! ________________________________________________________________ Get your name as your email address.
