One of the most effective mindchangers for situations like this is to look a t the resume of the individual, contact the EHS Depts at the institutions from which he/she holds his/her degrees. With a small amount of luck, they will be following practices that you would like the Dean to accept. In present this to him, do not mention that you know that he went there. Le t it just sink in that he's way out of step with his own institutions. If that does not work, the Laboratory Safety Institute's free session on "Leadership In Safety" for senior institution administrators is very effecti ve.
