Colleagues, I know that I asked about this some time ago (1-2 yrs). I am wondering if situations have changed. We are putting in a dust collection system in our visual and performing Arts woodshop. This shop would be for student and faculty use for no more than 4 hours per week, if that. The question now arises whether we should have a HEPA filter on the unit due to EPA issues. I am not aware of any EPA issues, just the usual hazards (combustion hazard) of a dust collection system. We also have another woodshop for the same purpose (set design) in our main library the question here is about occupancy rating. The room was originally built for B occupancy. They will be doing less work than the other shop and will be using latex paint. There does not seem to be any flammable material issues. I am very interested about your experiences and if you know the HEPA filter and/or occupancy question. My experience with this type of system is very limited. Thanks for your time. Regina M.
