There was one incident when an emergency shower in a lab building was opened - probably as a "joke" - during the night: the water was running down the stairs in the morning. The insurance company had some tough questions about the missing drain (in Germany drains can be omitted but are installed in most buildings - however, it is much better to have a shower without a drain than having none).
