Honoring Tillman-Skolnick Award winner Peter Ashbrook, in recognition of his outstanding, long term service to the Division of Chemical Health and Safety. MONDAY MORNING - Laboratory Waste Management: Initiatives for Regulatory Change New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Paris This symposium reviews current treatment and disposal of laboratory generated wastes. This includes updates on the status of laboratory related regulatory initiatives and reforms. MONDAY AFTERNOON - Body Armor for Emergency Responders: Personal Protective Equipment and Homeland Security (session 1), New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Paris This symposium will review the latest developments in personal protective equipment and instrumentation and will focus on issues of emergency response TUESDAY MORNING - Teaching Safety New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Zurich A symposium focusing on successful laboratory safety teaching practices that are in use today. TUESDAY AFTERNOON - Body Armor for Emergency Responders: Personal Protective Equipment and Homeland Security (session 2), New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Zurich Part 2 of the symposium reviewing the latest developments in personal protective equipment and instrumentation. Session will focus on issues of emergency response and conclude with a presentation from a NYFD responder discussing some post 9/11 issues. WEDNESDAY MORNING Fire Codes and Laboratory Operations/Emergency Evacuation Planning for Laboratories New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Paris This symposium provides examples of emergency evacuation, emergency planning and fire code implementation that focus on the challenges in research laboratories in industry and academia. WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON "On Your Mark, Get Set, GO! - Alternative Career Paths- Safety & Health", New York's Hotel Pennsylvania -- Paris The symposium explores alternate careers for the chemist in the varied and interesting discipline of safety. THURSDAY MORNING Presidential Symposium - Issues of Homeland Security: What Can Chemists Do?, Javits Convention Center, 1E14/1E15 Held on the second anniversary of the terrorist attacks, this symposium will provide leaders from the research, public policy and business communities the opportunity to review progress and identify future priorities.
